209 JORALEMON STREET
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN
Tomorrow at 1:30 PM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams will join the West Indian American Carnival Association (WIADCA), along with a colorful array of costumed dancers, to launch New York Caribbean Carnival Week 2015. Taking place the first week of September, the lineup of festivities that will be announced highlights the rich culture and contributions of the borough’s Caribbean community, headlined by the annual Labor Day parade on Eastern Parkway that attracts more spectators than any other event in New York City. According to data from the 2010 US Census, Caribbean-Americans comprise 16.4 percent of Brooklyn’s population. Borough President Adams and others will celebrate the rich tradition of WIADCA and encourage all New Yorkers to take part in the upcoming celebrations.
